33 Aldrich, Robert Director Sodom and Gomorrah 1963 Lobby Card Stewart Granger, Pier Angeli
20th Century Fox 1963 Lobby Card Very Good
The first motion picture(s) were introduced at the turn of the 20th century. Shortly thereafter, circa 1910-1915, black and white advertisements (later in color) or lobby cards as they would become known were posted on theatre walls to promote these movies.

As technological advances in advertising, construction of multiplex theatres, etc., in the United States evolved over the years, the lobby card became a relic and eventually a collectible item. However, lobby cards are still being produced for the international market and an interesting addition for one’s cinema collection.

Lobby card #3 exhibits staple marks in left margin, else in very good condition.

35 Allen, Albert Arthur Premiere Nudes
Santa Fe Twin Palms Publishers 2001 0944092888 First Edition Hard Cover Fine+ Fine 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall
Black cloth boards, unpaginated, dust jacket slightly rubbed.

Abert Arthur Allen (1886-1962) was a San Francisco photographer who, in the 1920's, made his way by catering to a small clientele that collected 'boudoir photography.' His photography was pretty soft core by today's standards, but they were serious erotic photography in their time. Unlike the artistic nude tradition of later times, Allen's work has a natural intimacy and grace that make his pictures very approachable on many levels.

The poses are very academic, designed as compositions, perhaps with a tale to tell, as well as carefully posed studies of the female form. The images are delicate and exhibit a fine control over the photographic process.

Allen had no great artistic pretensions and was something of a 'naturist.' Today, with our jaded eyes, we will often perceive his efforts as high camp. But they really are more than that, and worth some study. The edition is the typical, lush Twin Palms effort, finely printed with extensive use of color plates to capture the images perfectly. A book to appreciate and enjoy!

41 Attenborough, Richard Director Ganhi 1982 Lobby Card Ben Kingsley
Columbia Pictures 1982 Lobby Card Fine
The first motion picture(s) were introduced at the turn of the 20th century. Shortly thereafter, circa 1910-1915, black and white advertisements (later in color) or lobby cards as they would become known were posted on theatre walls to promote these movies.

As technological advances in advertising, construction of multiplex theatres, etc., in the United States evolved over the years, the lobby card became a relic and eventually a collectible item. However, lobby cards are still being produced for the international market and an interesting addition for one’s cinema collection.

70 Beauvoir, de Simone A Transatlantic Love Affair
New York The New York Press 1998 156584422X First Edition Hard Cover Near Fine Near Fine 8vo - over 7¾
Blue paper covered boards in pictorial dust jacket, 559 pages with photographs.

Simone de Beauvoir met Nelson Algren in Chicago in February 1947, when a mutual friend arranged for him to serve as her tour guide for two days. It was love at first sight, and a pssionate love affair ensued spanning twenty years and four continents in an era when transatlantic flight took 24 hours and overseats telephone calls were a luxury. The result is that de Beauvoir's 300 surviving letters to Algren are unusually rich in detail--love letters with a conscious undercurrent of French social history offer amusing insights into postwar Parisian life and characters, delivered with the charm of the nonnative writer.

71 Benson, Elaine Our Hampton Heritage - Volume 1 No 1 1983
Bridgehampton Dan's Papers Very Good
Magazine was conceived by Elaine Benson, owner of the Elaine Benson Art Gallery in Bridgehampton, New York, considered to be one of the most prominent and influential art galleries in the area (an area with a high concentration of galleries) and a center of social activity in the notably chic Hamptons, frequented by such luminaries as Betty Friedan, Kurt Vonnegut, Sheldon Harnick, Elaine Steinbeck, Michael Sallinger and Willem de Kooning.

As a resident of the Hamptons for the previous two decades, she had questions about the brave people who sailed there from Lynn, Mass. in 1640, why had they chosen to leave England, what did they find there when they arrived, how did the Indians receive them, what was the daily life of the Pilgrims in the 17th, 18th centuries, etc. This periodical is the result of her conversations with descendents and research.

Photographic cover (Corwith Family) exhibits mild to moderate rubbing with light creases, 128 pages with photographs and illustrations throughout including those of present day descendents.

84 Boetticher, Budd Director Ride Lonesome 1958 Lobby Card Randolph Scott
Columbia Pictures 1958 Lobby Card Very Good
The first motion picture(s) were introduced at the turn of the 20th century.

Lobby card #6 exhibits mild wear with pin holes affecting slight paper loss at two corner tips, else in good + to very good condition.

Please be advised scanner too small to copy entire picture. Email us if additional scans are required.
